Since 2014 I am working in the long-term project of spotted hyaenas in the Serengeti which covers questions of behavioural adaptations, evolutionary ecology and molecular epidemiology of pathogens.
I started my training at the IZW and did a rotation in the labs through all departments and got a good overview about methods, techniques and equipment in the institute.
These are the methods I used so far in our project:
- Genotyping (Microsatellites)
- Molecular epidemiology of carnivore pathogens / Molecular techniques (PCR, rt-PCR, Sanger sequencing)
- Cloning
